Our Prostate Health Test uses a small sample of blood in a compact testing kit to provide a fast indication of above the normal range levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) in the blood giving an overview of prostate health. The kit is mailed directly to you and contains the lateral flow kit, lancet, comprehensive instructions and everything you need to perform the test. PSA appears in the blood in higher than normal concentrations when the gland is enlarged or cancerous. Monitoring the prostate as a key biomarker is important for men over the age
Biomarkers tested:
The prostate antigen (PSA) is secreted by the prostate gland, which is situated in the abdomen under the bladder surrounding part of the urethra and plays an important role in semen production.
The prostate antigen level gives information about the prostate’s physiological condition. Levels above normal may indicate a range of conditions, including benign hypertrophy, prostatitis or cancer.
A PSA level higher than 4μIU/mL indicates a higher-than-normal level and the possibility of a health issue.
The test provides results based on a Positive/Higher or Negative/Normal basis. Positive results can then be used to request a secondary test or consult further medical advice.
