Our Persistent Inflammation Test uses a small sample of blood in a compact testing kit to analyse Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins in the blood giving an overview of inflammation in the body and general well-being. The kit is mailed directly to you and contains the lateral flow kit, lancet, comprehensive instructions and everything you need to perform the test.
Biomarkers tested:
Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins are produced predominantly by the liver and are usually in response to inflammation in the body.
The raised Serum amyloid A (SAA) gives an indicator of inflammation in the body and is especially useful for evaluating disease severity and monitoring disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and secondary amyloidosis.
An SSA level higher than 10μIU/mL indicates a higher than normal level and a positive test.
The test provides results based on a Positive/Higher or Negative/Normal basis. Positive results can then be used to request a secondary test or consult further medical advice.
